We're rolling out a security update to some Samsung Galaxy phones on a Cinch plan (Galaxy S26 series, Z Fold8, Z Flip8 and A17). It's from Cinch, and it's safe to accept.
What you'll see
- A message asking you to restart your phone. You can tap Later up to 3 times. After that, your phone restarts by itself.
- After the restart, a Samsung screen showing your updated device settings. Accept it to continue. It's a standard Samsung screen.
- When the download finishes, tap Update now.
Before you start: charge your phone to at least 30%. The update won't start below that.
What changes: your date and time will be set automatically, and you won't be able to change them by hand.
What doesn't change: your apps, photos, files and Cinch plan all stay exactly as they are.
Is this a scam? No. The update comes through Samsung's own system on your phone, and we've also sent you an email about it. We'll never ask for your password, banking details or a payment to complete this update. If anything like that comes up, don't respond, and contact us.
